Lost & Found in West Philly
We met at the University of Pennsylvania in early 2017. Our first date was at Dock Street Brewery in West Philadelphia, where Michaela gave beer an honest shot (she’s still not sold). Over drinks, we connected quickly—especially about how much family means to both of us. On the walk back, Nick somehow got us “lost,” which led to an unexpected detour at a tiny ice cream shop run by a single employee blasting metal music. It was unexpected, chaotic, and completely unforgettable. We laughed, ate incredible ice cream, and unknowingly kicked off something really special.

Our Journey
After meeting in Philadelphia, we built a life filled with morning workouts, neighborhood walks, and plenty of time with our beagle Penelope—who joined the family in late 2017 and quickly took over as boss of the household. We renovated and sold our first home in Philly—equal parts challenge and triumph—before moving to Charlotte in 2021 for a new adventure. Nick continued his career in industrial real estate and now helps lead his company's growing office, while Michaela works as a senior software engineer, running a data team focused on supporting digital publishers. Along the way, we've celebrated big milestones and everyday joys, made meaningful friendships, and shared unforgettable moments with the people we love.

The Proposal
After a few years (and a few jokes from Michaela about how long it was taking), Nick officially proposed on May 9th, 2022. We had planned a trip to the White Mountains, but the day before, Michaela spontaneously decided she'd rather go to the beach. Nick—who had already booked a photographer for the mountains—managed to completely pivot the plan without giving anything away. At sunset, on a quiet stretch of Crescent Beach State Park, he got down on one knee. We had champagne, a hidden photographer, and a perfect ocean backdrop. To top it off, Nick had planned a surprise dinner afterward with Michaela's whole family waiting. Oh—and the ring? Exactly what she'd hoped for.

Life Together
These days, life is a mix of cozy routines, shared goals, and dreaming about what's ahead. We're so excited to build a family someday, but for now, we're focused on laying the foundation: growing in our careers, supporting each other through every twist and turn, and making space for adventure along the way. Whether it's a spontaneous weekend trip or a quiet night in, we try to be present in the moment and grateful for each one. Marriage, to us, is about being teammates in the big things and the small ones—choosing each other every day, and building a life we love from the ground up.
